On the prep schedule tomorrow… the Central Coast Track and Field Invitational at Hans Peterson Field will feature athletes from nearly a dozen of the top programs in the region. Field events get underway at four with running events shortly after that. Admission is five dollars for adults, three dollars for students without a student body card… seniors get in for free.
Viking Softball will host South Umpqua for two games at home tomorrow beginning at three pm. Baseball will be on the road against the Lancers in Myrtle Creek for two… both of those games will air on Coast Radio Sports.
The NFL will hold the opening round of the college football draft this evening in New York City. Several Ducks and Beavers will be on the list of hopefuls, but none are expected to be picked up in the first 32 picks. Projected to go the highest out of either Oregon or Oregon State is LaMichael James, the Duck running back has been predicted to go late in the second round or in the third. Other Ducks expected to be picked up… Mark Asper, Josh Kaddu, David Paulson, Eddie Pleasant, La Vasier Tuinei (luh VOSS-ee-ay TOO-in-ay), Darron Thomas and Terrell Turner. Four Beavers have entered the draft, Brandin Hardin is the highest ranked, followed by wide receiver James Rodgers, Lance Mitchell and Cameron Collins.
