Siuslaw Track and Field Standout Matthew Campbell is Coast Radio Sports Athlete of the Week. The Viking distance runner posted the fastest time in Siuslaw history in the 3,000 meter at the Centennial Invitational in Portland, finishing second with a time of 8:37.22. That was also the fastest ever recorded by a Far West League runner and the fastest so far this year in the 4A ranks.
Honorable Mention is split between Hayden Schaffner and Katy Potter. Each also set school records in their events at Centennial, each also the fastest so far in the 4A this year. Schaffner was 2nd in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.28; Potter 11th in the 3,000 with a time of 10:24.45.
