Taking a look at Coast Radio Sports…
The Siuslaw Boys Track and Field Team finished fifth overall behind La Pine, North Valley, Newport and Molalla at the two-day OSAA State Track and Field Finals over the weekend. The Gladstone Girls took home the championship trophy with the Viking Girls ending in a tie for 20th with Banks.
Individually, Siuslaw had one individual state champion in Hayden Schaffner, who won the 800 in 1:58.46. Mack Marbas brought home the bronze in the boys 15-hundred with a time of 4:01.39; and Katy Potter placed in two events… she was third in the 3,000 with a time of 10:39.37; fifth in the 15-hundred with 4:55.38.
The boys four-by-400 relay team of Marbas, Schaffner, Matthew Campbell and Neal Larson finished third; Campbell also finished fourth in the 3,000 followed by Mitchell Butler in sixth. Complete results are available at OSAA.org.
College Baseball
The Oregon State Beavers completed a weekend sweep of the Oregon Ducks to knock them out of the Pac-12 Championship… Oregon is in 3rd behind Arizona and UCLA with a 19-11 conference record. The Beavers, with a 18-12 record, ended up in a tie with Arizona State and Stanford for fourth. Oregon will host an NCAA regional series beginning this weekend at PK Park. The entire NCAA tournament field will be released later this morning.
