OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) – Josh Reddick hit a game-ending RBI double in the 13th to send Oakland into the All-Star break with a .500 record as the Athletics beat the Seattle Mariners yesterday. Jemile Weeks led off the 13th with a single off Oliver Perez, then raced around the bases to score on Reddick’s drive to left-center field – giving Oakland its eighth walk-off win of the season.

SEATTLE (AP) – Sue Bird scored 31 points and the Seattle Storm earned an 83-68 win over the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday. Camille Little added 18 and Ewelina Kobryn scored 10 for the Storm. DeWanna Bonner led Phoenix with 12 points and Alexis Gray-Lawson had 11. Bird’s run began in the first quarter when she scored 13 on 5-of-5 shooting, outscoring Phoenix 13-12.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Larry Miller has resigned as president of the Portland Trail Blazers. The team announced Miller’s surprising departure Saturday. The team says he is leaving to take a position with another Portland-area business. Miller was president of the Blazers the past five years. He helped oversee the team’s hiring of Neil Olshey as general manager last month.

SEATTLE (AP) – Alvaro Fernandez scored on a header in the 52nd minute and Eddie Johnson scored in the 64th and the Seattle Sounders halted a nine-game winless streak, beating the Colorado Rapids 2-1 on Saturday night. Mauro Rosales assisted on both goals. The Sounders had not won since a 2-0 decision at Dallas on May 9. Between then and Saturday, they went 0-4-5.

SANDY, Utah (AP) – Alvaro Saborio scored three second-half goals Saturday to help Real Salt Lake earn a 3-0 victory over the Portland Timbers. RSL snapped a four-game winless streak. Salt Lake also snapped a three-game winless streak at its home stadium. Portland lost its third straight road game and is still winless away from home this season.
