Eugene’s bats woke up Wednesday night in an 8-2 win. They began the scoring early, leading with three hits in the first inning for three runs. Maxx Tissenbaum and Jeremy Baltz both scored two run doubles to add four runs in the second. Tonight it’s game four of five as the Emeralds host the Indians at PK Park. Vancouver scored a late game win over Yakima, but remain half a game back of Eugene in the West Division.
The wrath of Hurricane Isaac in Louisiana is being felt in Oregon. School officials at both Oregon State University and Nicholls State University have opted to postpone this Saturday’s, September 1st football game to a future date. The bye weeks for both teams do not match up leaving officials at both schools to consider scheduling options in the near future. The Pac-12 Conference will also be involved in discussions of any reschedule of the game. The Beavers will now open the season Sat., Sept. 8 against the Wisconsin Badgers in Corvallis at 1 p.m. in game being televised by FX.
