Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – Russell Wilson threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Golden Tate with 35 seconds left in the third quarter to help the Seattle Seahawks beat the Carolina Panthers 16-12 yesterday. Wilson shook off two third quarter interceptions – including one returned for a touchdown – and outperformed Cam Newton on a struggle-filled day for the Carolina offense. Wilson threw for 221 yards, while Marshawn Lynch ran for 85 yards for the Seahawks, who will host New England next Sunday.

NEW YORK (AP) – A bye week didn’t hurt Alabama’s status as the top college football team in the country. The Crimson Tide are a unanimous No. 1 in the AP poll for a second straight week and Oregon continues its ride at No. 2. South Carolina moves up from six to three after beating Georgia, which drops from fifth to 14th. Florida vaults up six places to No. 4 following a victory over LSU, which falls from fourth to ninth. West Virginia advances three spots to No. 5 after outscoring a Texas team that falls from 11th to 15th. Kansas State, Notre Dame and Ohio State are six through eight and Oregon State rounds out the top 10.

SEATTLE (AP) – Eddie Johnson scored his 14th goal of the season just minutes after an own goal gave Seattle the lead, Fredy Montero added another in the 62nd minute, and the Sounders raced past Cascadia rival Portland 3-0 last night before a record crowd of more than 66,000. Johnson’s goal in the 28th minute gave Seattle a 2-0 lead and helped the Sounders move into third-place in the Western Conference, two points clear of fourth-place Los Angeles.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – Christopher Kipyego of Kenya has won the Twin Cities (Minn.) Marathon. Kipyego finished yesterday’s race with an unofficial time of 2 hours, 14 minutes and 55 seconds. Jeannette Faber of Portland, Ore., won the women’s race with an unofficial time of 2:32:38, a personal record. The Star Tribune reports the times were well off course records, as the elite fields set slow paces in the early-morning cold.
