Lona Dengler had nine kills and the Siuslaw Vikings maintained their one match lead in the Far West Volleyball race with an easy three game win over the Brookings-Harbor Bruins last night in Florence. Siuslaw came out on top 25-6; 25-8; 25-8. In other league matchups, Sutherlin beat North Bend 3-1; South Umpqua upset Douglas in 3-2.
The Reedsport Braves were at home last night where they eased past the Bandon Tigers in three games. Mapleton picked up a road win with a three-game victory over the Mohawk Indians, winning 25-18, 25-7, 25-12.
The Siuslaw Vikings were the unanimous choice of AP Sportswriters again this week as the number one 4A football team in the state. The 6-and-oh Vikings are the only undefeated 4A team. For the first time this season there are no changes in the ranking… Gladstone is #2 followed by La Salle, Philomath, Baker, Cottage Grove, Cascade, North Valley, North Bend and Scappoose. The Vikings will host Brookings-Harbor for homecoming Friday night at Hans Peterson Field.
