Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors scored 21 points apiece to help the Utah Jazz beat the Portland Trail Blazers 97-91 last night. Kanter and Favors combined for 21 in the fourth quarter for Utah, which lost 120-114 to Portland on Monday. Kanter also finished with 12 rebounds. Wesley Matthews led Portland with 24 points. LaMarcus Aldridge had 19 points.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – For all the scrutiny that rookie quarterback Russell Wilson has gotten since being named the Seattle Seahawks’ starting quarterback, his passing attempts have been so limited it’s difficult to fully assess how the first seven weeks of his career have gone. Meanwhile, the Seahawks have the fewest pass attempts of any team in the NFL and are on pace for the fewest passes thrown in franchise history since 1977.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Oregon may be that rainy outpost of the Pacific Northwest far removed from SEC country, but the state has two teams ranked in the top 10. The No. 2 Ducks and the No. 7 Beavers are the highest-ranked duo from a single state in the current AP Top 25. Before this season, the last time the two teams were both ranked in the top 10 was in 2001, when Oregon State was No. 10 and Oregon was No. 7 after the opening week of the season.

SEATTLE (AP) – Les Smith, the Seattle-area businessman who was part of the group that brought Major League Baseball back to Seattle in 1977, has died. He was 93. Smith’s son, Alex, told The Associated Press that his father celebrated his 93rd birthday Saturday and died in his sleep Wednesday. Smith was part of the original Seattle Mariners ownership group with entertainer Danny Kaye and several others. They sold the team in 1981.
