PHOENIX (AP) – Marcin Gortat (MAHR’-chin GOHR’-tot) scored a season-high 22 points in only three quarters and the Phoenix Suns routed the Portland Trail Blazers 114-87 last night to snap a three-game losing streak. Markieff Morris and Shannon Brown combined for 29 points for Phoenix. Damien Lillard had 24 points and three assists – but also six turnovers for the Blazers.

SEATTLE (AP) – Clarence Trent scored 17 points as Seattle defeated Pacific Lutheran 58-49 last night. Trent opened the game with a 3-pointer and the Redhawks never trailed, closing the first half on a 10-3 run to lead 30-19. Seattle built its biggest lead when Deshaun Sunderhaus hit a layup with 11:50 remaining to make it 43-28. The Lutes got as close as five points.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Tanner Riley scored 23 points, Kevin Bailey had 14 and Ryan Nicholas just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds to give Portland an 81-60 victory over Portland State. Portland State had three players in double figures with Dre Winston scoring 13 points and recording seven rebounds. The Vikings shot only 35.7 percent from the field.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) – Venky Jois and Collin Chiverton scored 19 points each to lead Eastern Washington to a 75-70 victory against South Carolina Upstate in a CBE Hall of Fame Classic game last night. Jois had 11 rebounds and Justin Crosgile 10 assists for the Eagles. Adrian Rodgers scored 17 points for the Spartans. Mario Blessing and Jodd Maxey had 10 points each.

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico (AP) – Megan Deines and Shoni Schimmel each scored 16 points to help No. 7 Louisville beat Gonzaga 55-42 last night in the semifinals of the Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Mexico. Louisville led by eight at the half before Gonzaga cut it to 44-40 with 8:12 left. That’s as close as the Bulldogs would get as the Cardinals scored the next 11 points.
