Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – While the rest of his teammates were throwing shoes, shirts and other belongings in cardboard boxes, Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson was in an upstairs meeting room watching film of the finest performance of his rookie season that ended in a loss. He can’t wait for next season to begin. Neither can the rest of his Seahawks teammates, who nearly staged one of the biggest playoff comebacks ever in Sunday’s divisional playoff at Atlanta, only to see it slip away in the final ticks. The loss to Atlanta was the fourth time this season that Seattle allowed tying or winning points in the final 30 seconds of regulation.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – Two Texas football players suspended before the Alamo Bowl amid a sexual assault allegation have rejoined the team. Coach Mack Brown on Sunday night announced quarterback Case McCoy and linebacker Jordan Hicks are back. Brown didn’t immediately say what additional discipline the pair will face for breaking team rules. McCoy and Hicks were suspended a day before the Dec. 29 Alamo Bowl. UT beat Oregon State 31-27 in the Alamo Bowl.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) – Cory Schneider has waited much longer than a 113-day lockout for this chance. For the first time in his pro career, the goaltender entered a Vancouver Canucks training camp as the go-to guy in goal, a role he has coveted since joining the team. Schneider displaced Roberto Luongo (loh-AHN’-goh) as Vancouver’s starter in training camp last year and is slotted for permanent No. 1 duty. Luongo, who said after the season that he’d waive his no-trade clause, is attending camp amid an uncertain future. He is expected to be traded, with the Toronto Maple Leafs rumored to be the most likely suitors.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) – The Vancouver Canucks have signed veteran defenseman Jim Vandermeer. The 32-year-old native of Caroline, Alberta, has played in 461 NHL games, recording 105 points (25 goals, 80 assists) and 664 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 208-pound defenseman had one goal and three assists in 25 games with San Jose last season.
