Siuslaw basketball standout John Dodson is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The junior wing scored a season high 17 points in the Vikings’ 56-50 win over the Sutherlin Bulldogs to put Siuslaw back into a tie for 2nd place in the Far West League. Dodson was also a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line down the stretch. Honorable mention is given to senior post Jake Thompson who matched a season-high performance with 24 points in Siuslaw’s 54-34 Far West League win over the Douglas Trojans; a win that kept the Vikings in 2nd place.
On the schedule… it’s an off-night in the Far West League so no Siuslaw basketball, but the Mapleton Sailors are on the court… the girls will host the Newport JV at 5:30… the boys will face Mohawk immediately following. Both games will air on Coast Radio Sports beginning at 5:15. Bandon will be in Reedsport this evening.
