Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS (AP) – Ryan Anderson capped a 20-point performance with a layup as he was fouled with 1.8 seconds left, and the New Orleans Hornets snapped a three-game skid with a 98-96 win over the Portland Trail Blazers last night. He also hit a 3 with 15.6 seconds left that gave the Hornets a 95-93 lead, but Portland rookie Damian Lillard reached the 20-point mark for a sixth game in a row by draining a 3 with 11.2 seconds left. Wesley Matthews scored 24 and LaMarcus Aldridge 16 for Portland.

SEATTLE (AP) – Amber Orrange capped a career-high 20-point performance scoring on a spinning drive with 8.3 seconds left, and No. 4 Stanford won its seventh-straight Pac-12 Conference tournament title rallying past No. 14 UCLA 51-49 last night in Seattle. Orrange carried the Cardinal (31-2) while star Chiney Ogwumike (ah-GWOO’-mih-kay) struggled through one of the worst games of her career. Ogwumike failed to score over the final 38 minutes of the game and finished with a career low three points.

PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) – Dayan Viciedo went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, and a Chicago White Sox split squad beat the Seattle Mariners 11-7. Viciedo was in the middle of a five-run first inning that featured non-roster invitee Stefan Gartrell’s grand slam off Mariners starter Andrew Carraway. Seattle’s Michael Morse hit his third home run of the spring, a solo shot off White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod. Mariners outfielders Jason Bay and Carlos Peguero both tripled off Scott Snodgress in the fourth.

PHOENIX (AP) – Ken Griffey Jr. says he “was not shocked” when baseball writers decided no player should go into the Hall of Fame this year, although he thinks Craig Biggio got a raw deal. Without mentioning performance-enhancing drugs, Griffey said “sometimes a statement needs to be made.” Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa were eligible for the Hall of Fame for the first time this year, and neither came close to election. Griffey was in Phoenix to promote fan balloting for the all-World Baseball Classic team.

SEATTLE (AP) – Seattle police say University of Washington standout tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence Saturday night. Police spokesman Detective Mark Jamieson says Seferian-Jenkins was arrested in Seattle near the University District neighborhood. He was released from the precinct office. Jamieson says no more details are readily available. Head football coach Steve Sarkisian in a statement says Seferian-Jenkins made decisions “that fall short of our expectations for student-athletes.” Sarkisian says Seferian-Jenkins will be disciplined, but didn’t specify how.

KALTAG, Alaska (AP) – Just like that, the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race has a new leader. He’s 2004 champion Mitch Seavey. At 10:13 a.m. yesterday, he reached the town of Unalakleet. Teams now head onto the frozen Bering Sea coastline and north toward the finish line in Nome about 240 miles away. Seavey made the 90-mile trip from Kaltag in about 12-and-a-half hours, with his dogs traveling at 6.72 mph. Aaron Burmeister pulled in second, going slightly slower than Seavey.
