SEATTLE (AP) – Reserve Riquna Williams scored 26 points as the Tulsa Shock snapped a six-game losing streak with an 86-59 win yesterday over the Seattle Storm. Glory Johnson added 15 points and Angel Goodrich had 14 for the Shock. Camille Little led the Storm with 11 points. Tina Thompson added 10 points, the only other player in double figures for Seattle.
SEATTLE (AP) – As they begin the second half of the season tomorrow in Houston, the Seattle Mariners arrive at the All-Star break nine games below .500 at 43-52 Both general manager Jack Zduriencik and manager Eric Wedge have contracts that expire at the end of the season. The Mariners building on recent momentum and getting closer to .500 could solve whether one or both return in 2014.
NEW YORK (AP) – Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Osvaldo Alonso will be eligible to play this weekend against Colorado after his red card was rescinded. Major League Soccer announced the decision by an independent review panel yesterday. Seattle had submitted a review request after Alonso was issued the card in second half stoppage time of the Sounders 1-0 loss to San Jose on Saturday.
UNDATED (AP) – The family of former Olympic downhill champion Bill Johnson says he no longer wants treatment for a life-threatening infection that has attacked his major organs. Johnson’s mother said in a phone interview yesterday the one-time daredevil skier no longer wants supplemental oxygen or antibiotics. She says the 53-year-old wants to return to an assisted living facility in Gresham, Ore.
