SEATTLE (AP) – Nick Franklin homered twice, including a three-run shot, and the Seattle Mariners held off the Minnesota Twins for a 6-4 victory yesterday. Franklin and Michael Saunders both went deep during a pivotal four-run fourth inning. Erasmo Ramirez went six innings and allowed four runs on seven hits to pick up the win. He struck out six and walked two.
KENMORE, Wash. (AP) – Sherri Turner won the Legends Swing for the Cure yesterday for her third Legends Tour title, holing a 25-foot birdie putt on final hole for a one-stroke victory. The 56-year-old Turner shot a 3-under 70 in the one-day event at Inglewood Golf Club. She earned $15,000. Patty Sheehan and Christa Johnson shot 71, and Danielle Ammaccapane and Cindy Miller followed at 72.
SEATTLE (AP) – Lamar Neagle scored in the 57th minute to cap a rally that lifted the Seattle Sounders to a 2-1 victory over Chivas USA last night. Brad Evans also scored for the Sounders, who are unbeaten in their last eight games at home to tie a franchise record. Seattle’s only home loss was 1-0 to Montreal in the season opener. The Sounders improved to 8-7-4 overall.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) – Victor Bernardez and Steven Lenhart scored three minutes apart in the second half and the San Jose Earthquakes earned a 2-1 victory over the Portland Timbers on Saturday. San Jose won its second straight match to move past Seattle and into seventh place in the Western Conference. The Timbers lost for the second time in four games since their 15-match winless streak ended earlier this month.
