The North Bend Bulldogs claimed the Far West Football crown Friday night with a 42-14 win over the Siuslaw Vikings. North Bend’s defense prevented Siuslaw from gaining any traction early, limiting Siuslaw to only 134 yards total offense.
Action came to a halt midway through the third quarter when Viking Quarterback Joe Dotson was sacked, hitting his head on the turf. Medics quickly took precautions with him and he was transported to Bay Area Hospital where he was evaluated. According to one family member, a Cat Scan showed he did not suffer a concussion. But Dotson did tell doctors he briefly lost consciousness.
The loss left Siuslaw in second place… they’ll host the Sweet Home Huskies Friday night at Hans Peterson Field to open the post season.
Elsewhere in the Far West… South Umpqua beat Brookings-Harbor 59 – 14. Douglas downed Sutherlin 55-8. Crook County beat Marshfield 40 -32.
In Douglas County it was Reedsport over Glide 28 – 13 in a non-league contest. Siletz Valley ran by Mapleton 48 – 20 in the Mountain West.
