Sandblasters Fall to Select
Renton Poole pitched around five Sandblasters’ errors, but the Capital City Select managed a 5-4 win yesterday over Three Rivers in the second day of play at the Papa’s Pizza Tournament in Eugene. Poole went the distance on the mound, striking out eight and allowing only six hits. The ‘Blasters also managed only six hits, but collected six walks… three of those for Sam Johnson.
Three Rivers had a chance to win it in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded and one out… but the Select turned two to force the extra inning.
Emeralds Wrap Up Series With Win
In the Northwest League, the Eugene Emeralds posted six runs on eight hits and fended off the Spokane Indians 6-1 last night at PK Park in Eugene. The Ems are off on a six day road trip beginning today with the first of three at Boise; Monday they begin a three day series at Volcano Stadium in Keizer.
