Taking a look at Coast Radio Sports…
Northwest League Baseball
The Eugene Emeralds scored nine runs on 15 hits Friday night to even a three game series with the Hops in Hillsboro at one apiece; winning 9-3. Things were closer in the deciding game Saturday, but seven early runs for Eugene held up as they came out on top 7-6.
Yesterday was a new day, new series and a whole new ball game as the Hawks demolished the Emeralds 17-3 in Boise. Game two of the three game series is this evening.
Fall Football Camps Under Way
The 19th annual Siuslaw Football Camp gets (got) under way this afternoon at the high school. Beginners’ camp, for first through fourth graders will run from 1:30 to 2:30 through Thursday. Youth camp for fifth through 8th graders is from three to five. Then, the Frosh/Soph and varsity conditioning camps will be conducted from six to eight.
Varsity coach Tim Dodson says there is no cost to participants. He credits a grant from the Florence Kiwanis Club for underwriting all the costs.
