SEATTLE (AP) – Former MLS player and current Seattle Sounders assistant coach Ezra Hendrickson has been named the first head coach of Sounders 2, the club’s USL PRO franchise that will begin in 2015. Hendrickson has been an assistant to coach Sigi Schmid since the club’s inception in 2009. Hendrickson spent 14 seasons playing professionally, including 12 in MLS.
AUBURN, Wash. (AP) – The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe is buying the Emerald Downs thoroughbred horse racing track in Auburn. The tribe already owns the land on which the track sits and says it’s part of the tribe’s historical homeland and an important part of its economic development program. Its goal is to keep thoroughbred horse racing a viable part of the state economy. The 2015 Emerald Downs live racing season is scheduled to run 70 days from April through September.
UNDATED (AP) – The Oregon State Beavers host the Arizona State Sun Devils at Reser Stadium in Corvallis tomorrow night. The Beavers are coming off four straight losses, the most recent was a 39-32 loss to Washington State. Arizona State has the second best overall record in the Pac-12 with 8 wins.
NEW YORK (AP) – Nathan MacKinnon scored the tying goal in the third period and then connected in the shootout as the Colorado Avalanche rallied for a 4-3 victory over the New York Rangers last night. MacKinnon started the tiebreaker with a goal, and Alex Tanguay added one in the third round.
