Prep basketball Friday night….
First the boys:
The number one ranked Bulldogs downed Siuslaw 56-36 in North Bend. Marshfield beat South Umpqua 52-36. Brookings-Harbor defeated Douglas 67-47 to round out play in the Far West.
In the Mountain West, Mapleton was down by 25 at the break, but a second half rally fell short as the number three ranked Siletz Valley Warriors came out on top 54-44. Chris Free scored six of his 11 points in the second half; Tucker Ford picked up all ten of his points after the intermission. The Sailors will host Alsea tomorrow at six.
For the girls:
North Bend beat Siuslaw 54-39; Marshfield beat South Umpqua 54-27 and Brookings-Harbor beat the Douglas Trojans 63-59.
Pac-12 basketball
Teams were on the court Friday night. Number six Arizona shut down Oregon State 57-34 in Tucson. Over in Tempe, things went to overtime with Oregon taking a 68-67 victory over Arizona State. Joseph Young shook off a poor shooting night to hit a jumper with 25-seconds left for the win.
