Athlete of the Week

Viking wrestler Dylan Jennings is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The junior heavyweight drew the opening match against the number one seed at 285 pounds in last week’s 4A state championships, losing to the eventual state champion. Jennings then came back and won his second match with a 54-second pin before being eliminated in his third match.

Honorable mention goes to Sophomore 220-pounder Kainan Lane. He lost to the number two seed in his opening match; pinned his second opponent in just 38 seconds; then was eliminated in his third outing.

Basketball All – League

Far West League basketball coaches met over the weekend to make their all-league selections. Siuslaw’s Destinie Tatum was named to the second team for the girls. Mikaela Siegel received Honorable Mention, plus was named to the girls’ All Defensive Team.

For the boys, Joseph Dotson was second team, Preston Mitchell Honorable Mention. Seth Campbell picked up all-defensive team honors.
