Siuslaw Baseball in three-way tie for 2nd in FWL
Viking Baseball completed a two-game sweep of the Douglas Trojans at home yesterday, winning 3-2 and 9-5. The Vikings have won three straight and are in a three-way tie for second place in the Far West League.
Brad Snow pitched a complete game two-hitter in game one. Then, with the score tied at 2-all in the bottom of the seventh, he beat out an infield single before eventually advancing to third. Kenneth Thrall had a walk-off RBI, sending Snow home for the win.
Thrall started slow on the mound in game two. He gave up two runs on two hits in the first inning, but settled down and gave up only one more hit into the fifth inning when Trey Cornish came in to close the door on the Trojans.
The Vikings will be in North Bend Tuesday where they’ll face the undefeated Bulldogs.
Home Run Derby at Douglas
It was a home-run day on the diamond in Winston where the Douglas Trojans used a pair of 2nd inning homers to beat the Vikings 10-nothing in the first half of a softball double-header.
Douglas came out on top 18-14 in game two as the round-trippers continued. The Trojans had five of them in the night cap.
But, the Siuslaw Vikings had three of their own… all off the bat of Junior Taylor Dotson who had two in the second inning alone. She finished up the day with a three-run shot in the sixth inning. Dotson was three-for-four in game two… all three of them home runs… and had seven RBI.
The Lady Vikings will host North Bend Tuesday.
