Viking girls win Central Coast Invitational

The Siuslaw girls edged North Bend by a score of 162 to 140 to capture the team title at Friday’s ten-way Central Coast Invitational Track and Field meet in Florence. Philomath won the boys team title with 140 points. North Bend was second with 133 and the Vikings were third with 93.

Mikaela Siegel won the 100 meter hurdles and the long jump. She was second in the 300 hurdles and the Triple Jump. Magdalena Akeson won the Shot Put; Carissa Oliver the Discus; and the team of Destiny Tatum, Sierra Potter, Kaylee Graham and Kennedy Pendergrass won the four-by-400-relay.

On the boys’ side of things, Joe Dotson won the 400 meters, the javelin and the 300 meter hurdles. Trent Reavis won the Shot Put; Seth Campbell easily won the 800.

One Siuslaw Runner at Centennial

Celie Mans ran a personal best 10:35.19 Saturday to finish in 14th place in the 3-thousand at the Centennial Invitational in Portland. Mans’ time moved her past Raelyn Robinson to number three on the all time list for that event at Siuslaw.

Oregon State took two out of three games from number seven ranked USC in Corvallis to move into fifth place in the Pac 12. The Trojans beat the Beavers 11-3 Friday evening. Then Oregon State claimed a 3-2 victory in the bottom of the ninth Saturday afternoon. The Beavers came back with a 9-6 victory yesterday.

In Eugene, the Washington Huskies took the first game of a three-game series against the Ducks, winning 10-4. Oregon won 4-3 Saturday, and then came out on top 3-2 in 11 innings yesterday.
