Mariota goes number two in the draft
The Tennessee Titans got their quarterback without making any trades on the opening night of the NFL draft. Holding the first selection to open the second round may give them another chance to make a deal.
The Titans finished two-and-14, tied with Tampa Bay, and hold the first selection in each of the even-numbered rounds and the second in the odd numbered rounds.
The Titans drafted Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota number two overall.
They hold the first pick in tonight’s second round… analysts say they still need help at right tackle, outside linebacker and receiver.
Pac 12 baseball
Elliott Cary hit a two-run single in the top of the tenth and Oregon State held on in the bottom of the frame for a 4-2 Pac-12 win yesterday over the Washington Huskies. The two teams meet again tonight in Seattle… seven o’clock. Then wrap up the series tomorrow at 7:30. Both games air on Coast Radio, KCFM.
Oregon opens a three game series in Eugene this evening against Stanford. They’ll play tomorrow afternoon and then wrap up at noon on Sunday.
On the prep schedule…
Viking baseball is in Myrtle Creek where they’ll take on the South Umpqua Lancers for two games. First pitch is at three. Both games will air on Coast Radio Sports beginning at 2:45.
Siuslaw Softball is at home against the Lancers, also for two, beginning at 3 o’clock.
Track and field… The Vikings are at the Grants Pass Rotary Invitational tomorrow… Mapleton will be in Reedsport for the 14-team Jack Blum Invitational.
