SEATTLE (AP) – Garrett Jones hit a three-run homer in the top of the 11th inning and Andrew Miller preserved the lead in the bottom half last night by striking out Nelson Cruz with two on to end the New York Yankees’ 5-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners. Stephen Drew tied it in the ninth with an RBI double off Seattle closer Fernando Rodney as New York took the first two games of this three-game series.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Andrew McCutchen had four hits and drove in two runs, Pedro Alvarez drove in a pair and the Pittsburgh Pirates won for the 10th time in 12 games, beating the San Francisco Giants 7-4 last night. Brandon Crawford hit a two-run home run and Buster Posey drove in a pair of runs for the Giants, who lost their fourth straight.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Russell Wilson says he’s prepared “100 percent” to play out the final year of his rookie contract with the Seattle Seahawks. Wilson spoke yesterday following Seattle’s organized team activity workout that was open to the media. Wilson said he’s trying to keep the contract talks with the Seahawks as private as possible, but that he’s ready to play the 2015 season for $1.5 million under the terms of his rookie deal.

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. (AP) – Tiger Woods has played a second practice round at Chambers Bay in preparations for the U.S. Open in two weeks. Woods was on the course yesterday morning under cloudy skies and occasional showers. Woods’ visit happened to come on the two cloudiest days in the last couple of weeks.
