Siuslaw beats North Bend in three
A short-handed Viking volleyball team maintained their position in the Far West League standings last night with a three-game win over the North Bend Bulldogs at home.
Maci Wells had 11 digs and seven perfect serve-receive passes for Siuslaw. Hanna Bartlett had ten digs and added 19 assists. Their work was buttressed by 13 kills and three blocks by Elyssa Rose.
The Vikings remain tied at second place with South Umpqua. The Lancers beat Douglas last night. Marshfield remains undefeated after downing Brookings-Harbor last night. The Pirates are two games ahead of Siuslaw and South Umpqua.
In the Mountain West League, Triangle Lake beat Mapleton in three games.
On the Cross County course…
The Siuslaw girls remain atop the 4A coaches poll for the third week in a row.
The Lady Vikings had eight of nine first place votes. They’re followed by Sisters at number two and North Bend at number three; Molalla and Phoenix round out the top five.
For the boys, Seaside is the leader with five of nine first place votes, followed by Valley Catholic, Tillamook, Phoenix and Elmira in order.
Viking boys are tied with Marshfield at number ten.
Siuslaw… boys and girls… will be at Philomath this weekend for the Paul Mariman Invitational.
