Matching records with South Umpqua, but Vikings hold tie-breaker

Siuslaw clinched a share of second place in the Far West Volleyball standings with a three game win over the Bulldogs last night in North Bend. Hannaleah Jakobsen had 13 kills, 20 digs, one block and five perfect serve-receive passes on the night. Ali Scheer had 19 digs and six perfect serve-receive passes.

The Vikings share the slot with South Umpqua. Both teams have matching 6-and-4 records, but two of South Umpqua’s losses were to the Vikings so Siuslaw will have the better seed in the opening round of the OSAA playoffs.

The Lady Vikings will be at the Marshfield Tournament tomorrow in Coos Bay.

The Mapleton Sailors finished the regular season at home last night with a three set loss to Lowell.

On the gridiron

It’s senior night and homecoming at Hans Peterson Field as the Siuslaw Vikings host the Douglas Trojans. Play begins at seven… airtime on Coast Radio Sports is at 6:45.  South Umpqua is at Marshfield; Brookings-Harbor is at North Bend.

The Mapleton Sailors will host Siletz Valley at seven.

Tomorrow:

Oregon State is in the Palouse where they’ll take on the Washington State Cougars… That game will air on KCFM. The pregame show is at noon; kickoff is at one. Oregon is in Seattle where they’ll take on the Huskies at 7:30 tomorrow night. The pregame on 106.9 is at six.
