PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas (AP) – Danuel House scored 19 points, and No. 25 Texas A&M edged No. 10 Gonzaga 62-61 yesterday to advance to the championship game of the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Zags’ Silas Melson missed a fadeaway jumper at the buzzer as time expired with House contesting the shot. Kyle Wiltjer led Gonzaga with 18 points.
PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas (AP) – Eric Davis Jr. had 15 points, Cameron Ridley added 13 points and 11 rebounds and Texas fended off a barrage of rallies to beat Washington 82-70 yesterday in the consolation round of the Battle 4 Atlantis. The win avenges Texas’ six-point loss to Washington in the Longhorns’ season-opener. Andrew Andrews led Washington with 20 points.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – Perrin Buford scored 18 and Giddy Potts added 16 points to help Middle Tennessee escape with a 75-72 win over Division II Alaska-Anchorage in the Great Alaska Shootout last night. Sekou Wiggs scored 11 points in a 19-2 Anchorage run that put the Seawolves up for the first time since the opening minutes, 66-64, with 2:18 to play. But Middle Tennessee battled back and pulled out the win. Wiggs led Anchorage with 33 points.
CEDAR PARK, Texas (AP) – Christen Inman scored a career-high 28 points to lead the No. 19 Northwestern women past Eastern Washington 74-70 yesterday at the Lone Star Showcase in Texas. Hayley Hodgins scored 24 for Eastern Washington. Ashli Payne added 17 and Tisha Phillips scored 15, both career highs.
