SEATTLE (AP) – Russell Wilson continued his record pace throwing three touchdown passes, two to Doug Baldwin, and the Seattle Seahawks clinched a playoff spot for the fourth straight season with a 30-13 win over the Cleveland Browns yesterday. Seattle (9-5) won its fifth straight and, thanks to losses this week by Tampa Bay and the New York Giants, wrapped up a postseason berth. Wilson was 21 of 30 for 249 yards. He found Baldwin on TDs of 6 and 3 yards in the first half, then hit Tyler Lockett on a 27-yard TD strike on the first play of the fourth quarter.
SEATTLE (AP) – Brendan Westendorf made two free throws with 6.6 seconds left for a three-point lead and Seattle rallied past San Jose State 67-64 last night. Seattle trailed 46-34 midway through the second half but went on a 15-3 spurt to tie it at 49-all. San Jose State pulled within 64-63 on Frank Rogers’ two free throws with 34.1 seconds left. Freshman Malik Montoya hit 1 of 2 free throws moments later for a 65-63 advantage.
DENVER (AP) – Felix Von Hofe scored a career-high 28 points and Eastern Washington snapped a three-game losing streak, beating Denver 74-58 yesterday. Von Hofe made eight 3-pointers and grabbed six rebounds. Venky Jois scored 26 points with 16 boards and Austin McBroom added 18.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Gary Payton II had 19 points and Oregon State rallied in the second half to defeat Tulsa 76-71 to cap the revival of the Far West Classic on Saturday night. Langston Morris-Walker and Olaf Schaftenaar each added 11 points for the Beavers (8-2), who have won four of their last five games. Portland defeated Cal State Fullerton 65-60 in the earlier game Saturday. The Far West Classic is a popular holiday tournament that was a fixture in Portland for some 40 years before its demise nearly two decades ago.
