Ducks to Face Arizona; Bears Stop the Beavers

feature

Pac-12 men’s tournament

Tyler Dorsey sank a pair of free throws with 32-seconds remaining, then Elgin Cook added two more 20-seconds later and number one seed Oregon held on for an 83-77 win over the Washington Huskies yesterday in Las Vegas.  Cook and Chris Boucher (boo-shay) each scored 19 points, Dorsey had 17 and Dillon Brooks had 15 for Oregon.  The win set up a rematch with Arizona in one semi-final of the Pac-12 Men’s tournament.  The Wildcats held off Colorado, 82-78, last night.

The Cal Bears held off Oregon State late last night, 76-68 to advance to the late semifinal tonight against Utah.  The Beavers managed to keep it close despite playing without their second-leading scorer, Tres Tinkle, who suffered a right foot injury last week during practice.  One reason was Derrick Bruce… the “shifty” freshman guard unloaded with a career high 25 points.  Gary Payton II had 20 points and 16 rebounds.

College baseball:

The Oregon Alabama game scheduled for last night was rained out… it will not be made up. The Ducks are now in Starkville, Mississippi where they’ll start a three game series against Mississippi State.

Oregon State is at home this weekend for a three game series against San Francisco.  Right handed pitcher Jake Thompson, from Siuslaw, is scheduled to get the start in tomorrow’s game.
