GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — Yan Gomes hit his fifth spring homer and drove in three runs, leading the Cleveland Indians to a 4-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners last night. Gomes hit a sacrifice fly in the first, and then connected for a two-run shot against Taijuan Walker in the third. Josh Tomlin struck out 10 in six scoreless innings. Daniel Robertson had an RBI single in the ninth for Seattle.

UNDATED (AP) — The Portland Trail Blazers will host the Boston Celtics tomorrow night at the Moda Center. The Trail Blazers are coming off a 105-93 victory over the Sacramento Kings.

SEATTLE (AP) — Joan Bonvicini, who became the 17th coach to reach 700 career victories earlier this season, has resigned as head coach of Seattle. In a statement Bonvicini says she thanks Seattle for the opportunity to represent the school. Bonvicini was hired in 2009 and helped lead the school through its transition to Division I.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Logan Couture got his first NHL hat trick and James Reimer made 23 saves to help the San Jose Sharks beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-1 last night. Joe Pavelski had a goal and an assist for San Jose, which clinched a playoff spot Monday night with a 5-2 home victory over the Los Angeles Kings. Couture scored twice in the second period and added an empty-netter in this one. The Canucks have lost nine straight.
