Tatum earns honor for second time this year
Siuslaw Track and Field standout Destinie Tatum is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The junior athlete set a new school record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.71. She also ran a leg in the 4-by-400 relay that finished second in 4:09.03, the fourth fastest time in school history.
Honorable mention is given to Carissa Oliver who moved up to 4th on the all-time list at Siuslaw in the discus at 129′ 9″; and 5th in the shotput with a throw of 38′ 6″.
Viking Softball and Baseball end seasons today
Viking softball fell on the road in Winston last night to the league-leading Douglas Trojans, 6-nothing. The Lady Vikings will close out the season at home tonight with a final game against the South Umpqua Lancers at five.
Siuslaw Baseball will finish up in Myrtle Creek tonight against the Lancers at five. The pregame show on KCST is at 4:45.
College baseball…
Oregon erased an early five-run deficit, but the Gonzaga Bulldogs rallied for three late runs to win a non-league game at PK Park last night 9-7. The two teams meet again this evening.
Oregon State is on the diamond today in Keizer at Volcanoes Stadium for a nonleague game against the Portland Pilots.
It is Civil War Baseball week… Oregon will host Oregon State for three games at PK Park beginning Friday evening.
