Vikings regain lead in Far West Volleyball

Elyssa Rose had 19 kills, Makenzie York added 13 and the Siuslaw Vikings bounced back for a four-set win over the Lancers at South Umpqua High School last night.  The win, coupled with North Bend’s 3-2 loss to Douglas puts the Lady Vikings alone atop the Far West Volleyball standings with a 5-and-1 record.  Douglas and North Bend are tied in second with matching 4-2 records.  Marshfield got by Brookings-Harbor in five last night; the Pirates are in fourth at 3-3.  South Umpqua is 2-and-4… the Bruins are oh-and-six.

Lakers net the Sailors

In Mapleton, Triangle Lake held off the Sailors for a 3-1 Mountain West League volleyball victory.

On the schedule…

Prep football this evening at Hans Peterson Field… the number one ranked Bulldogs of North Bend will face the Vikings at seven.  The pregame show on KCST is at 6:45.   The Mapleton Sailors will host Yoncalla, also at seven.

On the Cross Country Course tomorrow it’s the Woahink Invitational hosted by the Siuslaw Vikings.  Middle School races begin at ten am. The Girls’ varsity race gets under way at 12:30; the boys at 1:15.

On the college gridiron… Oregon State is in Boulder, Colorado tomorrow where they’ll open Pac-12 play against the Buffaloes at 11:30.  The pregame show on KCFM is at 10:30.  Oregon is in Pullman against Washington State at 6:30.  The pregame show on KCST is at five.
