Siuslaw wraps up football season; Sailors jocky for home field advantage; Ducks and Cal Friday Night; and the Beavers in Seattle

It’s homecoming this evening at Hans Petersen Field and the Siuslaw Vikings will host the Brookings-Harbor Bruins for the final game of the season.  Both teams are winless in Far West League play, so it will be important for both.  Viking coach Jamin Pool said the season hasn’t been what he had hoped it would be… by a long shot.  But he added, there’s only one way to get ready for a game like tonight’s.

Jamin Pool – “Prep.  We’re preparing like we have nothing to lose, you know we have everything to gain and nothing to lose.  We’re really preparing hard and hitting the film and making sure that we go out there ready to play on senior night, homecoming night, last homecoming game, all that.”

There are eight seniors on the roster who will be making their final appearance at Hans Petersen.  They will be missed, but Pool says it also means he’ll have plenty of experienced players back next year.

Jamin Pool – “Knowing that we’re going to have a core group of our guys coming back is nice.  We’ll miss our seniors, we love our seniors, but there is some up side to it though.”

The Vikings have won only one game this year, that was September 16th against Newport.  The Bruins, too, have won just one game.  Interestingly enough, that came on the same night against Illinois Valley.  They kick off tonight at seven, airtime on Coast Radio Sports is at 6:45.

Sailors jocky for home field advantage

The Mapleton Sailors will have at least one more game after tonight.  But, the result of their matchup this evening against Triangle Lake will determine whether they are at home, or on the road next week.  A win over the Lakers means they would host Yoncalla in a Mountain West League Playoff game… a loss puts them on the road to Lowell.   The Sailors kick off tonight at seven in Mapleton.

Pac 12 Football

The Oregon Ducks have a rare Friday night football game this evening in Berkeley against the Cal Bears.  The pregame show begins on KCFM, 104.1 and 103.1 at 4:30 with the kick off at six.  As soon as the Viking game is over this evening, the Ducks will migrate to KCST as well.

Oregon State is in Seattle tomorrow where they’ll face number five ranked Washington at 3:30… the pregame show on KCFM is at 2:30.
