RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks’ Earl Thomas is out for the rest of the season after the Seahawks safety broke a bone in his left leg Sunday night against the Carolina Panthers. Coach Pete Carroll says Thomas fractured his left tibia, with recovery typically taking a minimum of six weeks.

UNDATED (AP) — Gonzaga is ranked 8th in the AP’s latest men’s college basketball poll with Oregon ranked 24th. Washington is the No. 11 team in the women’s rankings, where UConn took over the top spot from Notre Dame. Oregon State is ranked No. 24.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Alec Wintering scored 24 points as Portland nipped Texas-Rio Grande Valley 90-89 in double overtime. Gabe Taylor scored 16 points and tipped in the winning bucket for Portland.

SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) — Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield has won the Burlsworth Award for a second straight year, the first time that has happened for the award honoring the top player who began his college career as a walk-on. Washington State quarterback Luke Falk was one of the three finalists for the honor.
