(AP) — DeMarcus Cousins returned from a brief ejection and finished with a season-high 55 points, capping a wild day for the hot-tempered big man and sending the Sacramento Kings past the Portland Trail Blazers 126-121 last night. Hours after he was fined by the Kings for his profanity-laced tirade against a newspaper columnist last week, Cousins pulled down 13 rebounds and rallied Sacramento in the fourth quarter.
CINCINNATI (AP) — Edmond Sumner scored 12 of his 14 points while No. 17 Xavier took control in the first half, and the Musketeers picked up their third straight win, 85-56 over Eastern Washington on Tuesday night. After a sluggish start, the Musketeers (10-2) took control with a 35-8 run. Trevon Bluiett added 16 points, and Xavier had five players score in double figures. Sumner finished with nine assists and no turnovers.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Jordan Bell scored a career-high 23 points and No. 20 Oregon beat Fresno State 75-63 last night for its ninth straight victory. Dylan Ennis added 13 points for the Ducks (11-2), who finished nonconference play on a 33-game home winning streak. Paul Watson scored 15 points and Karachi Edo had 12 for the Bulldogs (8-4).
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Sydney Wiese set the Pac-12 record for career 3-pointers and had 17 points and 11 rebounds to help No. 25 Oregon State beat Quinnipiac 75-60 in the semifinals of the Play4Kay Shootout last night. Wiese passed Candice Wiggins (Stanford, 2005-08) on a catch-and-shoot from a step behind the arc on the right wing. It was the Beavers’ fourth straight 3-pointer, capping a 12-4 run to make it 52-44 with 1:28 left in the third quarter.
