RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said he was surprised by the combative comments of cornerback Richard Sherman earlier this week. Carroll spoke Thursday after Seattle wrapped up preparations for Saturday’s home finale against Arizona. Carroll said he believed Sherman would have expressed remorse or apologized for his sideline outburst in last Thursday’s game against Los Angeles.
SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Sounders have acquired 25-year-old midfielder Harry Shipp from the Montreal Impact in exchange for general allocation money. Seattle completed the deal with Montreal on Thursday as the Sounders begin to restock their roster after winning the MLS Cup title.
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State has lured Pittsburgh athletic director Scott Barnes west to take over the same job with the Beavers. The school named Barnes vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics Thursday. Barnes, who will start his new job in February, replaces Todd Stansbury.
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Derrick White scored 17 points, Deleon Brown drew a momentum-changing charge and Colorado rallied from an abysmal start to beat Eastern Washington 76-68 Thursday night. Bogdan Bliznyuk scored 21 of his 25 points in the first half to lead the Eagles, who have lost 20 straight games to Pac-12 teams. EWU wore down in the second half as the team played its third road game in five nights.
PROVO, Utah (AP) — Kelsey Plum scored 29 and Number 9 Washington rolled to an 82-70 win over BYU Thursday afternoon. Washington dominated the second quarter after a slow offensive start and took a 43-23 lead into halftime.
