PHOENIX (AP) — Oregon opened the season with two losses in its first four games, prompting questions of what’s wrong with the Ducks? Nothing, really. Since losing to Georgetown in the opening round of the Maui Invitational, the Ducks have won nine straight and moved up to No. 20 in the AP Top 25. Oregons heads into Pac-12 season, loaded with talent and certainly making a run at repeating as Pac-12 champ.
PHOENIX (AP) — Markelle Fultz arrived at Washington as the most highly-touted recruit in program history. The do-everything point guard has lived up to the hype, leading the Huskies with 22.4 points per game while shooting 49 percent from the field and 48 percent from 3-point range. He also averages 6.6 rebounds and 6.3 assists. Fultz hasn’t been able to carry Washington by himself, though. The Huskies lost to Yale at home early in the season, had a four-game losing streak and will enter Pac-12 play at 7-5.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland Trail Blazers host the Toronto Raptors tonight, coming off a 110-90 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night. Damian Lillard had 16 points and 10 assists for his seventh double-double of the season for the slumping Blazers, who have lost five straight and nine of their last 10 games.
SEATTLE (AP) — After 15 games, the only certainty about the Seattle Seahawks is to expect inconsistency. Even coach Pete Carroll can’t be sure of what kind of performance he’s going to get from a team that’s bound for the playoffs for the fifth straight year. The latest example came Saturday in a 34-31 loss to the Arizona Cardinals that severely damaged the Seahawks’ hopes of landing the No. 2 seed in the NFC and a bye in the playoffs.
