Mapleton hosted the Marshfield JV for a pair of non-league basketball games last night. The Junior Pirates came out on top 24-20 in the girls’ game; for the boys, it was Marshfield winning as well, 56-51. Dominic Wells led scoring for the Sailors with 16 points and 24 rebounds. Mapleton will be back on the court tomorrow afternoon; they’ll host Perrydale for non-league basketball. The girls tip off at one, the boys right after.
Viking Basketball is on the court this evening at South Umpqua High School where they’ll start the second half of the Far West League Season. The girls tipoff at six, the boys around 7:30. The pregame show on KCST is at 5:45.
Pac 12 Hoops
In Eugene, number 13 Oregon held off unranked Arizona State for a 71-70 Pac-12 victory. Dillon Brooks scored 27 points, including the final 12 of the game for the Ducks who trailed before the pre-season All-American took over in the final three minutes. Oregon will host fifth ranked Arizona tomorrow at one o’clock. The pregame show on KCST is at 12:30.
In Corvallis, Allonzo Trier scored 18 points and the Wildcats roared to life in the second half to defeat Oregon State 71-54. Stephen Thompson Junior led the Beavers with 16 points and five steals for the Beavers who led 29-27 at halftime. The Beavers will host Arizona State Saturday afternoon at three… the pregame show on KCFM is at 2:30.

Prep Wrestlers tune up before regionals next week
Siuslaw Wrestlers will be on the mats today and tomorrow in Cottage Grove; all except Eyza Abbas. She’ll be at the Girls’ regional wrestling tournament at Thurston High School in Springfield.
