Prep wrestling…
Four Siuslaw Vikings will advance to the OSAA 4A state finals February 24th and 25th in Portland. They do so on the strength of their finish at the Far West League-Skyline Conference Regional Wrestling Meet.
Richard Huff claimed the 113 pound championship at South Umpqua High School. Kainan Lane was third at 285. Two other Vikings were fourth in their weight classes… Riley Jennings at 152 and Nick Steinman at 170.
Prep basketball:
For the boys: The Siuslaw Vikings forced their way back into a three-way tie at second place in the Far West League with a 55-39 victory over the Bruins at Brookings-Harbor High School. Three Vikings finished in double-figures. Kyle King led scoring with 12 points; Brogan Cornish and Jake Hickson each had ten. Douglas beat South Umpqua Friday night 56-46; North Bend held off Marshfield 44-33. The Bulldogs are unbeaten in league play and clinched the conference championship with that win. But, the Vikings, Pirates and Trojans are tied at second with matching four-and-four records. Siuslaw will be at Douglas High School tomorrow night.

In Mapleton the Sailors beat the Crow Cougars 61-46 in the final non-league game of the season. The Sailors are at Eddyville this evening, seven pm, for a Mountain West League playoff game.
The Mapleton girls fell to Crow Saturday 52-21; the lady Sailors will be at Siletz Valley tomorrow night for a league playoff at seven.
Back to the Far West League… Brookings Harbor dominated the Lady Vikings Friday night 68-25. Marshfield held off the North Bend Bulldogs for a 54-49 win in North Bend; Douglas ran over South Umpqua 60-23. The Pirates and the Trojans with matching 7-1 records are tied at the top of the league with two games remaining.

College basketball…
Oregon rebounded Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles for an 81-70 Pac-12 win over USC. Oregon State trailed at the half by five, but UCLA turned up the heat in the second half for a 78-60 victory. The Beavers will be at home against Colorado Thursday night; number five Oregon will host Utah.
