Huskies edge the Beavers; Ducks down the Wildats

Your Place For Local Sports

Pac 12 baseball

It was a day of upsets in college baseball yesterday.  The Washington Huskies ended top-ranked Oregon State’s win streak at 23 with a 3-2 win in Seattle.  The Beavers jumped to an early one-run lead in the first, but Washington scored three runs in the sixth inning, including two on a throwing error.  The Beavers mounted a comeback bid in the ninth, scoring one run to cut the deficit, but the Huskies managed to end it.  The two teams meet again this afternoon at four, then close out the series at two o’clock tomorrow.  Both games will air on 104.1 KCFM.

The other upset came in Tucson where Oregon came away with a solid 8-4 win over seventh ranked Arizona.  The Ducks… ranked #22 themselves… held the potent Wildcat offense in check most of the night.  The ‘Cats did get 11 hits, but the defense took over where needed to leave 11 Arizona base runners stranded.  David Peterson improved to 8-1 on the season.  The two teams continue the three game series tonight before wrapping it up tomorrow afternoon.
