Thompson’s Seasons Best; Jesuit-Nike Meet; 68th Annual Grants Pass Rotary Meet; NFL Draft Picks

Thompson is Stellar

Oregon State punctuated their series with the USC Trojans on Sunday with a 10 -1 win.  Former Siuslaw Viking Jake Thompson went 8 innings and had a career high 11 K’s.  It’s his 5th consecutive outing with at least 7 innings allowing just one run, one walk and 5 hits on the day.  Up next for the Beavers will be the Ducks tomorrow evening at home.  Pre-game will be on KCFM beginning at 4:30

20 K’s for Duck’s Peterson

Oregon Ducks picked up 2 of 3 over the Arizona State Sun Devils,  winning Friday 2-0 with Junior Lefty David Peterson striking out 20.  They dropped Saturday’s game 4-3 and took Sunday’s game 3-2 for the series win.

NFL Draft Hits and Misses

This past weekend was the NFL Draft and several prominent players for Oregon State were picked.  Former offensive lineman Sean Harlow went in the 4th round to the Atlanta Falcons.   Defensive Back Treston Decoud went to the Houston Texans in the 5th round.  For the first time in 32 years the Oregon Ducks were shut out of the NFL Draft

Viking Track Results

Siuslaw Viking Track standout Celie Mans was the lone competitor from Florence at the Jesuit-Nike Twilight Relays Friday.  She placed third in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:17.77

 

The rest of the Vikings were at the 68th annual Grants pass Rotary meet.  Sophomore Hannah Rannow finished 3rd in the 3000 meter with a personal best time of 11:39.78.  Destinie Tatum finished 5th in the 400 meters with a season record 1:02.57.  Carissa Oliver took first place in the Discus with a throw of 133ft 8in.  and took second in the shot put with personal record toss of 40ft 9.75 in.

 

On the Men’s side Ryan Rendon-Padilla took first place in the Javelin with a throw of 153ft. 3in.  Trent Reavis finished 3rd in the shot-put with a toss of 49ft. 4.5in.
