Casey Calls it Quits

With a blue handkerchief in hand and a noticeable quiver in his voice, Oregon State Beaver Head Baseball coach , Pat Casey announced his retirement yesterday afternoon.  The coach told reporters that the decision came after he realized that he could no longer give the attention the position deserved and had made a promise that when he felt that way he would no longer don the uniform.  Casey told the room that he looks back and see a lot of changes that he would have made, but not regrets.

“I wish I was as good a coach day one as I was the last day, I wish I would have made every player better, I wish I would’ve been a guy that didn’t make any mistakes, that doesn’t happen in coaching.  If you want to be a guy that really influences people’s lives and  you really want to be a coach that gets on the edge you have to get on the edge and you’ve got to know you will make some mistakes and  you can’t be afraid to do that.”

Casey said that if he thanked everyone that made this journey possible he would be there all day.  He says he has no hobbies, no mountains to climb, so he’s not sure what to do now, only that it is time.

Vikings Victorious

Last night the Lady Vikings were victorious on the court at home against the Billies of Pleasant Hill.  The girls took the match in four sets 25-15, 25-8, 13-25, and 25-17.  Tuesday the Viks travel to Sutherlin for a non-league match.

McKenzie Downs Mapleton

Last night in Mapleton Mckenzie downed the Lady Sailors in straight sets 25-4, 25-14, and 25-14.  Next up for Mapleton is a non-league tournament in Glendale Saturday.
