Record Day For Siuslaw Runners

It was a day of personal records for many of the Siuslaw Viking Cross Country team.  For the Ladies, 5 Siuslaw runners finished in the top 20 giving the Vikings a first place finish. Sophomore Brea Blankenship finished with a personal record time of 19:41 flat for a 9th place finish just behind fellow Viking Hannah Rannow.  Freshman Rylee Colton, and junior’s Chloe Madden and Anne Wartnik and senior Naomi Shoji all set personal records.

In the varsity men’s 5000 meter Brendon Jensen finished in 6th place with a time of 16:40.60.  Fellow junior Kiger Johnson finished 17th  with a personal record time of 17:08.80.  Junior Jonah Jarmin and sophomore Ryan Jennings also set personal records.  The Vikings came in second place for the meet.

 

Vikings Over Eagle Point

In tournament volleyball action on Saturday the Siuslaw Vikings defeated Eagle Point in Marshfield.  The Vikings won in straight sets 25-16, 25-20

Vikings Show Improvement in Loss to Billies

Under the lights Friday night the Siuslaw Viking visited Pleasant Hill to face the Billies.  The Vikings had a difficult time running the ball but did have some success passing.  Sophomore QB Elijah Blankenship was 15 for 38 for 186 yards and two touchdowns.  He also threw 2 interceptions. Camp Lacouture had 6 catches for 82 yards.  Special teams blocked a punt resulting in a safety.  The Vikings scored 16 points on the night but fell to the Billies 43-16.

North Douglas Eeks Past Mapleton

In 8 man football the Mapleton Sailors had another tough game against North Douglas.  JJ Neece had 26 rushes for 248 yards and was 5 for 9 passing for 102 yards.  He also had 13 tackles on defense.  But in the end North Douglas outlasted the sailors 52-44.

Ducks Pull It Our In OT

The Oregon Ducks took Washington to overtime on Saturday.   The ducks held Washington to a field goal on the first drive in ot and then 3 plays later CJ Verdell broke through the line for a touchdown for an upset of the #7 ranked Huskies. Final score 30-27.
