Siuslaw vs. Marist

The Siuslaw Vikings hosted Marist for a double header on Friday.  The Vikings in game one stayed tied with Marist for most of the game until a 5 run 8th inning by marist put them in the lead.  The Vikings battled back in the bottom of the 8 but fell short by one run.  Coach Tom Shinn said he was happy to see how the team put the ball in play, but it was errors that lost them the game.  Marist only had 1 earned run out of the 7 the scored.  7-6 was the final.

In the second game the Vikings produced 6 runs on 7 hits, after three innings the Vikings were out in front 6-4 but Marist bounced back scoring 3 in the 4th and 2 more in the 6th.  the game was called after 6 innings due to darkness.  Final score 9-6.

Softball: Siuslaw vs Marist

Marist put on a hitting clinic against the Lady Vikings on Friday. The first game of the double header was a 14-1 loss for the viks and game two Marist produced 20 hits for 28 runs in a 28-2 loss for the Vikings.

Meet of Champions

Brea Blankenship had a good Saturday at the Meet of Champions in Sweet home.  She placed third in the 1500 meters and second in the 3000.  Brendon Jensen also placed 3rd in the 3000.  Sophomore Gracie Freudenthal took another 1st place finish in the 100 meter hurdles.  Sophomore Andrea Osbon took second place in the shot put and Ryan Rendon-Padilla and Skyler Loomis took first and second in the Javelin.  Hannah Rannow placed 9th overall in the women’s 3000 meters at the 55th Centennial Invitational in Portland.

Mapleton Track

Mapleton athletes competed in Blue River on Saturday at the MCTF League Meet.  Sophomore JJ Neece took second place in the 100 meter race and sophomore Emily Stevens place third for the girls.  Neece also placed second in the 300 meter hurdles and took first place in the javelin with a toss of 147-05.  Junior Dylan Rogers took second with a toss of       129-06 and took 3rd in the shot put with a toss of 37-3.  Junior Nate Neece won the long jump with a personal record best of 16-11 and JJ Neece won the triple jump with a distance of 41-1.5 a personal best for him.

Collegiate Baseball

Over the weekend the Beavers swept Washington State with an 18-4 win on Friday, a 16 inning 4-3 bout on Saturday and finishing it up on Sunday with a 2-0 win.

 

The Ducks dropped two to California on Friday and Saturday 8-7 and 10-5 before bouncing back on Sunday with a 12-4 victory.
