The Eugene Emeralds dropped three straight over the weekend to the Hillsboro Hops. On Friday the Hops jumped out to a 3 nothing lead in the bottom of the first inning setting the tone for the game. They added 2 more runs in the 3rd to take a 5 nothing lead. The Ems scored 2 runs on 6 hits. The Hops added one more in the bottom of the 8th for a 6-2 win.
On Saturday it was a little different story as the Ems took the early lead with a 2 run second inning. The Hops struck back in the 3rd with 2 runs to tie the game. The Emeralds put one more on the board in the 6th to take a 3-2 lead but the Hops kept battling and added one in the eighth to tie it and won it with a run in the bottom of the 9th 4-3
Last night at Ron Tonkin field the Hops five run second inning was topped off by a 2 run home run by first baseman Andy Yerzy. The Ems had 5 hits on the night and scored 4 runs. Final score was 6-4 hops. Eugene falls to 7-10 on the season. Hillsboro is back in first place with an 11-6 record.
