Emeralds Blast Volcanoes
The Eugene Emeralds on Saturday put on a hitting clinic for the league leading Volcanoes. The Ems had 18 hits and 12 runs on the night holding the Volcanoes to just 1 run on 5 hits. The volcanoes also committed 4 errors in the game that helped the Ems. The Ems split the series with Salem-Kaiser.
Last night the Emeralds began their 3 game series against the Boise Hawks. The Emeralds led 1-zip through 6 inning of play and then added to their lead in the 7th with 3 more runs. They put the lid on the game in the 9th inning when second baseman Chase Strumpf smashed a 2-run homer to give the Ems a 6-0 win. They play game 2 this evening at 6:15.
