Ems on Streak
The Eugene Emeralds opened up their series against the Hillsboro Hops at home last night. Eugene spread out four pitchers on the night surrendering 6 hits and 2 runs but managed to stay ahead of the hops after a 3 run 7th inning. Eugene struck first in the bottom of the fourth. Jake Slaughter scored after Hops pitcher, Marcos Tineo threw a wild pitch. The Hops took the lead back in the top of the 7th on a 2-run home run by Steven Layton. In the bottom of the 7th the Ems retook the lead when centerfielder Edmond Americaan hit a two out triple scoring three for a 4-1 lead. The Ems added one more in the bottom of the 8th for a final score of 5-2. The Ems are now 15-18 on the season and tied with Boise. Both teams are 6 games back from the Volcanoes who are at 21-12. Boise is one game back at 20 and 13.
