OSAA Still Mulling Over Schedules

Siuslaw Athletic Director Chris Johnson said that the Oregon School Activities Association is working on contingencies for fall sports.  Schools do not yet know whether or not they will be able to open for the fall, or what the fall schedule might look like if they are able to open.  Siuslaw Schools are looking at possibly splitting school into two separate daily sessions, which could impact sports.  Best case scenario is that the schools will be able to return to normal, but that possibility would require that the coronavirus is eliminated or severely reduced.  Normally football squads and cross country teams would be practicing and planning for summer camps, but current restrictions will not allow that.  OSAA’s executive director Peter Weber says there are a lot more questions than there are answers, but every option is on the table right now.  The OSAA board met this week to discuss the upcoming calendar, practices and contests as well as what things might look like if a late start is required or spectators are not allowed.  Everything, right now, is dependent upon what the coronavirus does.
