Vikings/Tigers
The Siuslaw Vikings on Friday night hosted the Junction City Tigers in football. The Vikings fell behind quickly against a tough Tiger offense, but seemed to find a rhythm late in the game fighting back from a 34-14 deficit. The Vikings scored two quick touchdowns in the 4th quarter cutting the tiger lead to just 14, but Junction City was able to run out the clock on the Vikings. Final score was 48-34. The Vikings do get one more chance to take the field this Friday at home against Sutherlin.
Beavers/Utes
The Oregon State Beavers took 2 of three games from the Utah Utes, after a tight 4-3 victory on Thursday the Beavers demolished the Utes 17-3 on Friday. Saturday the Utes turned the tides with a 4 run 5th inning that put them up 4-1. The beavers attempted a comeback in the 8th but only scored 2 runs and the Utes held on 5-3. The Beavers take on Gonzaga today and tomorrow before meeting Oregon on Friday.
Ducks Sweep New Mexico State
The Oregon Ducks swept New Mexico State over the weekend in a 4 game series at home. Saturday’s double header was a 2-1, 6-1 pair of wins. The ducks meet Portland on Tuesday before their stand against the Beavers this weekend.
