Siuslaw Track and Field Results
The Ladies and Gentlemen of Siuslaw Track and Field are poised for a league championship this weekend after a strong showing on Friday in Cottage Grove. Several Vikings had banner days. Sophomore Sam Ulrich posted a personal record 4:13.55 in the 1500 meters and junior Camp Lacouture finished second in the 300 meter hurdles with a personal record time of 45.05. 4 of the top 5 spots in the discus went to Siuslaw athletes and senior Skyler Loomis took first in the Javelin. Lacouture also captured the top spot in the Pole Vault clearing 13-00.00 a personal record for him.
The Viking ladies continue to dominate the 800 with senior Brea Blankenship taking first with a time of 2:26.10 and Rylee Colton pushing herself to a personal record second place finish at 2:27.16. Gracie Freudenthal finished 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles and 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles with season record times. Andrea Osbon lost the top spot in the shot put and discus to Hidden Valley’s Kaiah Fisher while still managing a personal record toss in the discus of 126-02. The senior also finished second in the javelin with a toss of 102-11.
Viking Baseball/Softball
The Siuslaw Vikings had a couple of close encounters on the diamond on Friday taking on Marshfield on the road. The Vikings lost in the double header 9-4 and 7-5. The Vikings host Marist tomorrow at Jiggs Dodson Field and then move from their regular Friday double header to a Saturday duel in Junction city to finish out the season. The Vikings are currently 1-11.
The Lady Vikings are also 1-11 after dropping a pair to Marshfield on Friday 14-5 and 12-2.
Ducks Sweep
The Oregon Ducks swept the Washington Huskies over the weekend, 8-0, 5-1, 9-3 and take on Gonzaga tomorrow at home.
Beavers 2 for 3
The Oregon State Beavers took 2 of 3 from the USC Trojans. The Beavers on Friday and Saturday seemed poised at a sweep with a 5-4 on Friday, and a 9-7 win on Saturday. Yesterday the Beavers trailed 5-1 in the bottom of the 9th and scored 2 runs in a failed attempt with the game ending 5-3.
Arizona currently leads the Pac-12 with Oregon in second place and the beavers in 4th.
